About us

The foundation members of Turtle Watch org are the marine biologists Anu Riihimäki and Maria Koivisto and our honorary member, the musical artist Antti Tuisku. Maria Koivisto is a Master of Science in marine biology and a PhD student of Helsinki University. In addition to turtle research, she is preparing a doctoral dissertation about biodiversity shaping processes in the Baltic Sea. She has previously worked in different projects and as a lecturer of biology and geography at the Helsinki University and different high schools. She has also written educational materials for children. Anu Riihimäki is a  Master of Science in marine biology and an educated dive master and research diver. She has previously worked on the Racha Yai island as a diving guide and investigated the restoration possibilities of Finnish lake waters. She has also worked as a teacher at Helsinki University and as a project assistant in Metsähallitus.

Visit us!

You can visit our turtles and get to know our work every Tuesday and Friday during high season (November - April 10th) in Cape Panwa at the Phuket Aquarium at 11.30 am. You can get to the aquarium by local bus from Phuket town or take a taxi. Please let us know in advance via e-mail if you are coming so we know to expect you! Looking forward to see you!
